Archiving Data

Rumors have been floating around regarding archiving but none of them are true. The archiving process in PeopleSoft hasn't been decided yet. (Information accurate as of Fall 2009.)

The archiving issue has been a lower priority compared to production issues so there is not yet clear definition of what will happen. At some point (probably based on when the volume starts to affect performance) the transactions will be moved out to history tables and accessed through queries or some other tool. What other functionality will be available is not known at this time, nor have there been any decisions or assumptions made about who might or might not be able to access the information. Barring an emergency situation, no data will be removed from the system without first alerting the community when it will happen and how to access the information.
