Hardware/Software/Browser Requirements
for End-User Workstations

Supported Operating Systems

  • Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista

  • UNIX

  • Linux

  • Mac OS 9, X

Memory

  • Minimum (casual user): 256 MB RAM

  • Minimum (power user): 512 MB RAM

  • Optimal: 1 GB RAM

Processor

  • 1 GHz Pentium or equivalent processor

Screen Resolution

  • VGA controller and a display of 800 x 600 resolution or higher and High Color (16 bit) mode

Recommended Browsers

  • Internet Explorer is the preferred browser on Windows 2000, XP, and Vista, and Windows Server 2003

  • Netscape is the preferred browser on UNIX, Linux, and Mac OS X

Supported Browsers

  • Windows XP: Internet Explorer 6 and 7, Firefox 1.0, Mozilla 1.7, Netscape 7.2, Netscape 8.1

  • Windows Server 2003: Internet Explorer 6, Firefox 1.0

  • Windows 2000: Internet Explorer 6, Firefox 1.0, Mozilla 1.7, Netscape 7.2, Netscape 8.1

  • UNIX: Netscape 7.2, Firefox 1.0, Mozilla 1.7

  • Mac OS X: Netscape 7.2, Firefox 1.0, Mozilla 1.7, Safari 2.0.4

  • Mac OS 9: Netscape 7.2

  • Linux: Netscape 7.2, Firefox 1.0, Mozilla 1.7

Software for Reports

  • Microsoft Excel 2000 or higher

Popup Blockers

You will need to disable popup blockers in your browser. Some blockers may be turned off on Windows by right clicking an icon on the system tray, next to where the clock resides. The most recent version of Internet Explorer has a built-in popup blocker. To configure it or the Netscape popup blocker, see the directions below.

  • Internet Explorer
    1. Go to Tools: Popup Blocker.
    2. Turn off the popup blocker.

  • Netscape 7.1 or 7.2
    1. Select "Popup Windows."
    2. Uncheck "Block Unrequested Sites."

  • Netscape 7.1 or 7.2
    1. Make sure "Block Popup Windows" is unchecked.
