Enterprise Systems Integration

The Enterprise Financial System (EFS) and the Human Resources/Campus Solutions (HR/CS) systems will be integrated when EFS goes live in July 2008. (Campus Solutions is the student system.) Because HR/CS is already functioning in a production environment, a vast majority of the work necessary for integration with the PeopleSoft Financials system involves changing existing CUFS-related functionality. This “retrofit” effort means that major components of functionality will remain unchanged. A major goal is to replace the CUFS Chart of Accounts with the PeopleSoft Financials COA.

PeopleSoft provides communication channels that allow these systems to exchange the information necessary to meet the specific business needs of each system. Some of the main categories of information exchanged between the two systems are:

  • Chart of Accounts (including DeptID as a COA value)

  • Accounting transactions for the General Ledger (e.g., salary/fringe expenses, tuition revenue)

  • Accounts Payable transactions (e.g., general deductions such as union dues or garnishments)

  • Salary/fringe encumbrance transactions

  • People data (including the DeptID)
