Financial competence is defined as having the skills, knowledge, and ability to perform activities with a financial impact in compliance with relevant University and ethical requirements while maintaining fiscal integrity. Each of the EFS-identified six financial roles has a matrix of competencies assigned to it.
EFS strategy includes level one and level two competencies. Level one competencies are applicable to all financial roles at the University and are used in hiring and selection and in performance management. Click here to view the EFS level one competencies model.
Level two competencies are defined by business process and role, are task-based, and are used in performance management and in training and assessement. They include functional/technical skills and knowledge of the business (policies, etc.).
Because we need to ensure that employees understand how to use the new financial system and are familiar with the new policies and procedures before they gain access to PeopleSoft Financials, all EFS training classes will include an online assessment. Passing the assessment with a score of 80 percent or better will be required in order to gain access to the new system. We realize that people are often anxious about taking tests, and we want to assure financial users that the tests will be designed in a user-friendly, open-book format. Tests will include "teachable moments," which will allow the test-taker to rethink a question that has been answered incorrectly and try the answer again. For more information about the tests, click here.
This page will be updated as financial system training and assessments are further developed. Information on financial system training and assessments will also be available from the OHR Training Web site. |
