It’s an understatement to say that installing a new financial system at the
University
of
Minnesota
is a major undertaking. Ensuring that the system meets the many business needs of the University while at the same time does not complicate the system with too much customization is the primary objective of the EFS project. But the system itself is just part of the equation; University employees are the key to the project’s success.
Enter change management with its goal of educating employees and preparing them for implementation of the new system through organizational design, training and competencies, and communications. Change management is an integral part of the project and represents the human side of the system.
Change management covers how change affects an organization, the different ways people react to change, and how people can best manage change. EFS is offering colleges and administrative units a variety of methods and resources they can share with their staff to help staff manage the stress, excitement, and uncertainty inherent with change.
